Broadway Arts Community
Broadway Arts Community is a performing arts, training based intensive for aspiring artists (actors, singers, dancers), at ANY LEVEL. From middle school and high school ages, to college or professionals, BAC is for students and artists who are serious and passionate about honing their skills as storytellers through dance, acting and singing.
When students train at BAC they experience what it takes to work in a Broadway setting! You will perform works of original choreography, learn a 32 bar and 16 bar cut of 2 songs, work on a monologue, get on camera training, and take master classes in all different styles of dance from Broadway performers, as well as experience a professional headshot session with celebrity photographer, Lesley Bohm. Our BAC’ers also experience a mock audition with a casting director or agency and a choreographer or director with industry feedback. We truly become a family at the end of 10 days and the culmination is a “Work”case where each BAC’er performs either their 32 bar song or a monologue and we share some of the work we’ve learned throughout the process as well as two ensemble numbers we stage and sing.
Co-Founders and Co-Directors, Chryssie Whitehead and Alexis Carra focus on instilling the work ethic it takes to become a professional on Broadway, or on-camera, or any other avenue in the entertainment field. They also emphasize the importance of creating lasting relationships, both personal and professional, and how much attitude and mental health affect performance and auditioning. Chryssie and Alexis each have over 20 years of professional experience as actors, singers and dancers and are extremely passionate about inspiring students to gain confidence by trusting their own unique instrument and gifts, while enjoying the hard work it takes to prepare for a career in the arts or any field!
Broadway Arts Community 2018 was fantastic for my daughter! Alexis and Chryssie are simply amazing at how they nurture the individual needs and growth of each student. The camp was filled with students with diverse backgrounds and levels. Since they kept the size small enough for it to be an intimate group, they created a strong family atmosphere where students felt supported in their process…
